Louisiana - El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail

Along the way between Cane River Creole National Historic Park and Austin, Texas, I found that I was following a portion of the old El Camino Real trail. The trail goes from Louisiana all the way to California, but the portion I found myself on was in Louisiana and Texas.

Along the way, there were two historic sites that I stopped at. They were interesting, and there was information posted about the site, but tours at both of the sites were "by appointment only", and I was not able to take advantage of that.

One of those sites was Fort Jesup, which was a location that the US armies used in fighting in the war with Mexico.

Another site was Los Adaes, which was the capitol of Tejas In the 1700's.

More information about the El Camino Real de Tierra Ad can be found at the NPS website at: https://www.nps.gov/elca/index.htm
