Louisiana - Jean Lafitte National Historic Park

Jean Lafitte National Historic Park is one of those parks that has several locations, that aren't necessarily very close together. Jenni, Jackie and I were in New Orleans for a few days, and we visited the Visitor Center that is in the French Quarter - it had a lot of great stuff in it, but truthfully, the lure of the rest of the French Quarter was too much for us to spend much time there. The next day, however, we ventured out to the Barataria Preserve, which is another location of this park. What a cool place! We took a very flat hike in the bayou. Much of the hike was on a boardwalk, which really gives you a false sense of security that the alligators cant get you. We saw a few gators, lots of birds, snakes, lizards, etc. NICE!
