California - Joshua Tree National Park

Finally getting to Joshua Tree!   It's one of the favorites for Matt and Angee, so they have hyped it for a while now.   This is the first opportunity I have had to visit, and it was better than I had hoped.   It probably helped that we were here so early in the year when the heat hadn’t gotten too bad.   It WAS hot, but not nearly like it would be in summer.

We started off visiting some of the quirky shops along the main drag – they were what I expected.  A lot of eclectic things, much of it home made.   Then, we went into the park and did a few short hikes.

The Hidden Valley Campground area is a great place to watch climbers – so we did for a bit, then we did a hike at the Wall Street Mill and drove the main roadway through the rest of the park.   It was beautiful in some parts, and kind of desolate in others, but overall, did not disappoint.
