December Class - Beaded Bracelet in Brookfield

Back in September, there was a heavy rainstorm, and my basement was flooded. The carpet and drywall came out, and for a few months, it was a shambles down there. BUT, in December, I finally had a contractor come in to get it put back together. So, in December 2022, I was mostly consumed with picking out carpet, wall colors for the basement, fixtures in the bathrooms, etc etc. Then Christmas, with all of THAT. I wasn’t thinking about a class, and then suddenly, it was December 30th and I had not taken a class yet!

So, on December 30, I decided to wander over to the nearby bead store, Midwest Beads, and see if they had some sort of kit or something for me to do. I knew that was kind of a cheat, but at the same time, it would be something new, and in my mind, it “counted”. As I wandered the store, one of the employees asked me if I needed help. I told her my predicament of needing a class for December. She told me I was in luck.

Apparently, on the weekends at Midwest Beads, they hold drop-in classes on a particular subject. They set up a project, then you can come in at any time and do the project. She told me that between online and in the store, 60 people had already done the current project, which was a Beaded Leather Bracelet, for $12.50.

Perfect. So, I sat down, and learned how to make this cute bracelet. It was super easy, and something I could do at home. In addition, they told me that if I make some beads, I am more than welcome to come in, and get some pointers on how to string them, or use their tools if I don’t have something, etc. Very cool! I will be back!

A few of the key take away from this:

1. The Midwest Bead place is awesome, and I plan on going back with some glass beads once my basement is done and I have a place to make them again.

2. I have an easy option for a class on weekends if I am in a crunch to get one in before the end of the month.

It pays to talk to the employees of a place occasionally – they probably know something
