Florida - Great Calusa Blueway

Occasionally, I will write about a place that is not a National Park Service property, but was interesting, and worth a visit. This is the case with the Great Calusa Blueway in Lee County, Florida.

Lee County has created miles of trails through the coastal waters for paddling. I met up with a friend of mine, and we put in at a small park in Cape Coral. I swear I saw a manatee while we were getting the kayaks ready, but I didn’t see it twice, so I can’t confirm it. Once we were in, we headed into the mangroves, and paddled for about three hours. We gathered up some geocaches that were accessible by boat only and saw a gazillion birds. What a great spot!!
