January Craft in my Basement - Blankets

Writer: MTNestWandererMTNestWanderer

A few weeks before this event, one of my 8 sisters, Jennifer, was at a resale shop and found a couple of bolts of fleece with a breast cancer awareness print. She wanted to make blankets with the fabric to give away to someone who would need/appreciate them.

So, it was a LOT of fabric, and one of our sisters had passed away from breast cancer, so she gathered the rest of the clan at my house, to help make the blankets. It worked out great! We had three tables set up – one for the sewing machines, and two for laying out the fabric and getting it cut and pinned up.

All of the sisters were there helping at one point or another, and a few brought some extra fabric along. We ended up making 9 blankets, and a few hats. Jennifer donated them to an appropriate facility, and fun was had by all!

A few of the key take away from this:

1. Some of my siblings are much more adept at sewing than others.

2. Prior to this, I had never pinned the blankets I made, but Jennifer insisted we pin, so we did …. I don’t think it made much of a difference.

3. You can make a lot of blankets in only a few hours when a bunch of siblings are all working together to get it done!
