June Class - Pole Fitness in Brookfield

Sometimes, when you get a bunch of ladies together, bad decisions are made. I work with Tracy, who has taken a bunch of classes with me over the last few months, and we were discussing what class we should take next. A few other ladies were there, and they wanted to join, and somehow, we ended up with the idea of taking a pole fitness class together. It sounded fun.

Tracy and I then were talking about it during our ongoing Pottery class, and the pottery teacher decided to join in with one of her friends…. So, off we went to a 6-week beginner pole dancing class!!

While I HAVE a shape, I am not what anyone would consider “in” shape. So, this was a challenge for me. The class was comprised of about 10 women, of all different sizes, shapes and ages, but I was definitely the oldest one there. I was a bit happy for that, so I had a built-in excuse if I just couldn’t do something, or if I got dizzy and needed to stop for a bit.

The instructor at Miss Pole in Brookfield was awesome! She made everyone feel very comfortable doing the different moves and made sure there was some stretching and warm up at the beginning, as well as some stretches at the end. I’m positive that helped.

Throughout the weeks, I did get a bit more comfortable with doing some of the moves, but the spinning made me dizzy and my arms are just not strong enough to do some of the things. In all, it was fun, we laughed a lot, gave the guys at work something to laugh about, and in general had a great time.

Things I learned:

1. Pole fitness is definitely a cardio activity.

2. Wearing long leggings is mandatory for learning!

3. When doing something kinda outside of your comfort zone, having 5 other people you know doing it with you is fun!
