March 2024 Class - Bead Making in Whitewater

I have taken a class before with the wonderful Julie Lukosaitis, but this one covered more advanced techniques.   The event was hosted in Whitewater at The VInery.   I love the Vinery – Josh and Shaina are always so helpful!

The class was set up so that there were eight torches going, and one large annealing kiln.   We used silver, pulled twisties, made tiger beads, used frit, encased things and generally played with melting glass.   I love taking classes like this, because everyone has a little bit different technique of doing things, and I end up getting all sorts of new ideas!

Things I learned

1.       You can change the amount of oxygen getting to a hothead by covering it with aluminum foil.

2.       Encased twisties are really cool.

3.       Silver does not look right with a blue and white twisty bead.
