Minnesota - Mississippi National River & Recreation Area and FOOD!
Going to Minneapolis is always a treat, since I can see my eldest child and her partner. They are always up to visit a new restaurant, and to roam around to areas we haven’t been in before. This visit did not disappoint! In addition, most of the places we go to are part of the Mississippi National River & Recreation Area! I love hitting up NPS properties while I travel, so this is a bonus!
We started out our adventure at Jefe Urban Cocina and had an awesome meal outside on the patio. After dinner, and after checking out ALL the doggos that people brought along, we ventured out to the trails on Hennepin Island, with great views of the Stone Arch Bridge. Within a very short walk, it seemed like we were out in the boonies, not in the middle of a major city.
The next day, we tried one of those online Scavenger hunts at Minnehaha Falls. The park is always beautiful, and we explored around, and got a little bit of history on the railroad depot, but we gave up on the scavenger hunt after a short time. In lieu of that, we walked over to The Tipsy Steer Hiawatha for a bite to eat.
All in all, another wonderful trip to Minneapolis!
A few of the key take away from this:
1. Don’t bother paying for the online Scavenger hunt things. It was just not very good – it seemed like whoever put it together had never been to the area and did it with online information only. I give it a two out of five stars.
2. Having a plan to always visit a new restaurant in the Minneapolis area is the BEST idea! There is so much good food!
