November 2023 Class - Snowflake in New Berlin
A few months ago, I joined a group called The Loose Bead Society of Milwaukee. They meet monthly at the New Berlin Library and talk about everything related to beading. Sometimes, they have speakers, sometimes it is a project and sometimes it is just open beading with other like-minded people. In November, the project was to make a beaded snowflake.
This involved “sewing” beads together. I have never done it before, and once again, I needed a great pair of reader glasses. With a bit of help from some of the other participants, I worked my way through the pattern and came up with a snowflakeish looking object. It’s more of the essence of a snowflake. It wasn’t great, but I did learn while I was doing it, and if I did it again, it would come out better.
Things I learned:
1. When sewing with beads, you have to make sure everything is TIGHT! And then, make it a bit tighter. My snowflake is rather floppy because I didn’t do that.
2. Pay attention to the directions or you will just need to take it all apart and start over – a few times.
3. I never realized needles came so ridiculously small.
