October Class - Knit Hats in Brookfield
I freely admit that I had been watching waaaay too many TikTok videos prior to October 2022. I got intrigued by a knitting machine, so I went ahead and bought a cheap version of it. SO. MUCH. FUN.! Okay, I admit my definition of fun here is not everyone’s, but I got “hooked” right away.
The circular knitting machine is just that, it goes round in circles and knits… in a VERY short time, you can make a nice warm, double thick hat. So I did. I made a lot of them.
Then the knitting machine broke.
I kind of knew that was going to happen, since it was a toy, but still, in about 3 days, it was worthless. I was still on my kick of making hats though, so I ordered a more robust version. It cost a bit more too, but I ended up getting a bundle of three sizes of the machine. I waited a few weeks for it to come in, and again…. I went to town making hats!
I’m not sure how many I made, and some were more attractive than others… maybe 100? Many were given away, some were sold at Jackie’s farm store, and many are in my basement in a bin waiting for someone to give them to.
A few of the key take away from this:
1. The cheap versions of a real thing are probably not worth it. (I already knew this, but didn’t heed my own advice)
2. The thick yarn doesn’t work great; it is easier to miss stitches with it.
3. The variegated yarn is nice and gives a neat result.
