September 2023 Class - Glass Fusing in Whitewater

In September, I was lucky to have signed up for a class in glass fusing as part of KBW Glass Art Foundations’ “GEM V” event.   The event was hosted in Whitewater at The VInery.   I love the Vinery – Josh and Shaina are always so helpful!

The class I signed up for was called “Fantasy Garden”, which resulted in a round fused glass display piece.   The project was the largest and most intricate fused glass piece I have done, and consisted of  was a VERY intensive glass cutting exercise.   I learned so much from the class, and the instructor was great!

Things I learned:

1.        Cutting all those individual pieces is time-consuming, but the end result is worth it!

2.       The Dollar General across the street from the Vinery has very very few employees, and there is only self-checkout – kinda sketch.

3.       Whitewater has a nice park along Cravath Lake, that has events in the pavilion on nice September evenings.
