US Virgin Islands - Virgin Islands National Park
WOW
This place is straight out of National Geographic. Every turn we took, we saw ANOTHER picture perfect beach.
To get to the Virgin Islands National Park, we had stayed in St. Thomas, and in the morning, took the car ferry over to St. John, where the National Park is located. In all of the Virgin Islands, you drive on the left side of the road, so that takes some getting used to. Once on St. John, toss in a few roundabouts that go clockwise, and STEEP slopes on very narrow roads, and the driving is harrowing!
Regardless of the driving situation, we stopped at the Visitor Center before visiting the park. The people there were super nice, and offered a bunch of ideas for hikes. Many of the ideas were catered to people that do not have a vehicle, but once we told them we were driving, they had additional ideas.
Just a note - if you don't have a vehicle here, don't fret - there are these open air vehicles that operate as taxis ALL over the place, and they will literally stop in the middle of a street to see if you need assistance, so don't worry about finding one. They will find you.
We thought we wanted to do a few hikes here, but that was just dumb. Its hot, and very hilly, and the beach is just SO cool. We did visit the ruins of a sugar factory, and another old building, but found ourselves just looking at the beach the whole time, so we gave up on that and went to the beach! Spoiler - we swam with sea turtles!! That is technically the Virgin Islands National Coral Reef, so more about that in THAT post!
